FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How does
it work?
A: A motor turns a shaft. The shaft is connected to the
Penny Wheel. (The
Penny Wheel is the white wheel with
the 8 penny holes in it) The penny
wheel goes round and round clockwise. The feeder plank holds 100
coins
and feeds the pennies into the penny
holes. The first hole the penny passes over has a balance mechanism
and a trap door. If the
penny is copper, it is heavier than zinc and the penny falls through the trap
door.
All the zinc pennies are lighter than
copper fall through the second hole.
Q: What is
the longevity of this machine? Will it ever need serviced/calibrated if so
will I need to send it back or can I do it?
A: It is a hands on machine that needs calibration and
adjustments. There is a learning curve. It's built to last and
It's
adjustments do compensate for wear.
It is a simple machine an owner with a little mechanical knowledge can
understand and service. Of course you can always
send it in for service. The Penny Miser is better than 99% accurate when
adjusted
properly. Jamming at the feeder and
also at the Penny Hole can be almost completely eliminated with some patients,
observation, thought, and adjustments.
It's designed to separate all zinc pennies from all copper pennies
regardless
of weather the copper pennies are Memorial,
Wheats or Indians.
Q: How long
does it take to ship?
A: The Penny Miser's are hand made and take some time to
manufacture so it may take as long as a month before
I can ship your Penny Miser.
Q: What
method do you use to ship?
A: I ship via United States Postal Service. You can
choose either (PARCEL POST/standard domestic) or PRIORITY
Q: Do the
Misers all look identical to the pictures?
A: They all look similar. They are hand made so each
Penny Miser is unique.
I also use different types of wood
depending on what is available.
Q: What kind
of warranty does the unit carry?
A: I give a full 14 day Satisfaction Guarantee. That's a
full refund less shipping charges.
The unit also carries a 90 day Parts &
Service Warranty for manufacturing defects.
Q: Where do
the separated pennies go?
A: The DELUXE
model, has two collection boxes inside the unit to collect the pennies.
Each collection box has an end flap
that can be opened and used to re-direct the pennies out
the back of the machine and over the
edge of a table into larger containers.
The BASIC
model is open and paper cups or small cardboard boxes can be used to collect the
coins.
The coins can easily be re-directed
over the edge of a table into larger containers.
